The only time there has ever *really* been any militant expression of Welsh Nationalism was in the late 1970s, at the same time as the Callaghan Government, in parallel with the rise of ETA and the artificial prolonging of what became the Long War in Northern Ireland from 1973 (when the IRA were "on their knees", according to both IRA and MI5 official sources).
That, to me, indicates that that was an expression of NATO Intelligence. It was a GLADIO front.
